Workers’ compensation lawyers

Hurt on the job? Call 24/7 to talk to an attorney who handles workers’ comp claims and on-the-job injury cases.

Workers’ comp is its own system. You don’t have to prove your employer did anything wrong — if you were hurt on the job, you’re generally entitled to medical care and a portion of your lost wages while you recover.

But the system is built to push back. Claims get denied, doctors get disputed, and benefits get cut off too early. And in many cases — especially when a third party caused the injury on a job site — there is a separate personal injury claim on top of the comp claim. Call Personal Injury Legal Centers and we will connect you with an attorney who can sort out which claims apply.

Questions

Workers’ comp questions

How the system works — and when there’s more than one claim to make.

Do I need an attorney for workers’ comp?
For a minor injury that’s being paid without pushback — usually not. For anything denied, disputed, or involving time off work, surgery, or a permanent rating — yes. Insurance carriers have attorneys; you should too.
Can I sue my employer?
In most states, no — workers’ comp is the exclusive remedy against your employer. But if a third party caused your injury (a contractor, a property owner, a defective product, another driver), you may have a separate personal injury claim against them on top of the comp claim.
My claim was denied. What now?
Denials are common — and often reversed on appeal. There are strict deadlines to appeal, so don’t wait. Call and an attorney can review the denial letter and tell you what your options are.
The insurance company wants me to see their doctor. Do I have to go?
It depends on your state and where you are in the claim. An independent medical exam can change the trajectory of a case — talk to an attorney before going.
What does workers’ comp pay for?
Generally: medical care for the injury, a portion of your lost wages while you can’t work, and a payment for any permanent impairment. It does not pay for pain and suffering — those damages only come through a separate personal injury claim against a third party, if one applies.
